MAINTENANCE

Storing the Product

Our helmets and goggles are made from plastic or composite materials that can lose some of their technical properties (as well as their appearance) over time. To ensure a proper, extended lifespan, store them in a cool place away from light, especially sunlight, when not in use. Don’t leave your helmet near heat sources such as radiators. Store your helmet somewhere it won’t be exposed to impacts or the weight of other objects. Goggles should always be kept in their dedicated case to prevent scratches or other damage to the lens.

In the Event of a Major Impact

If your helmet has sustained a major impact, or multiple impacts even of low intensity, it should generally be replaced to avoid the risk of personal injury when used again. If you’re unsure, you can have it inspected by an experienced dealer. For goggles, the lens should be replaced if you notice a change in color, a decline in filtering performance, or significant scratching.

Cleaning

When cleaning, keep in mind that the outside of the helmet should only be cleaned with lukewarm water (don’t use solvents, chemical products, other toxic substances, or harsh detergents), while the interior liner, once removed from the helmet, should be washed often (it can even go in the washing machine on a delicate cycle) to keep it hygienic and odor-free from sweat. After use, let the helmet air dry at room temperature in a ventilated area; don’t use a hair dryer or other heating device. Goggles should be washed with lukewarm water and a small amount of degreasing soap, then dried right away with a soft cloth.

Sanitization & Scent

For its new helmets, ZERØ35 by HAMMER has developed an innovative sanitizing system with a distinctive unisex scent.
The scent spreads naturally throughout the inside of the helmet thanks to the internal ventilation that occurs during use. The device/refill lasts about three months.
To replace it, simply pull it out of the helmet’s inner pocket (located near the cheek pad and marked with a dedicated label), then insert the new refill.

Important Notes

A few other simple but important precautions:

  • Don’t paint your helmet or apply any kind of coloring substance to it.
  • Be careful never to tamper with any part of the helmet; don’t remove components or add any accessories.
  • Don’t cut or drill the shell, and don’t insert screws.
  • Don’t customize your helmet without first checking with us about the best way and products to use.
